January meeting

We’ll meet on Monday, January 8, from 2PM to 4PM at the library to continue our year-long study. This will be the seventh meeting in which we work on a long-term project exploring design elements with watercolors and monoline lettering. This month we’ll use our blue tape both as a mask and, secondarily, as a paint palette. You will choose your lettering style for this month’s lettering. Your text may be just about any length, as copyfitting will not be a chore this month.

Thanks to those of you who have sent me your theme and an image of your favorite piece. I will be including as many as possible in the next issue of the Big Sky Scribes Nota Bene

If you’re joining us for the first time, please let me know you’re coming and I will have copies of the handouts available for you.

    Supplies to bring:

    • the two handouts you received at the June meeting
    • a quotation that fits your theme, any length
    • 6 x 9 watercolor paper
    • pencil, eraser
    • ruler
    • Micron pens in varying sizes .005-10.0
    • board – masonite or hard cardboard
    • watercolors
    • a good brush
    • light-tack masking tape (artist’s tape, or blue or purple painter’s tape)

Here’s a sample of what we’ll be doing:

    Beth Lee
(I think the proper quotation includes “a leaf of grass.” Oh well.)

As always, please bring anything else you’re working on or finished recently. We always want to see what creative things you’ve been up to whether it’s fiber, collage, stitching, painting or lettering.
